What pre-filing does
A pre-filed complaint is entered into the Board's system before the township's formal Board window begins. When the township opens, the filer can continue adding evidence through the Board's evidence period.
What pre-filing does not do
It does not preserve the separate Assessor opportunity. If the Assessor window is still open and you want both review opportunities, file with the Assessor before that deadline. The Board is the second level of review.
When pre-filing is most useful
- The Assessor window has already closed.
- The Board's formal township dates are not yet open.
- You want the complaint safely in the Board system while continuing to refine evidence.
